About that looking for work thing...

I forgot to mention that I started a new job two weeks ago.

The people there seem really nice, including the owner and shop foreman who interviewed me. I hope to learn a lot there. I've never really done any grinding before and although I've used countless carbide drills before, it had never occured to me that I'd be making them someday.

It takes me back to my early days in the shop. All manual work with specialized machines, some of them built back in the '40s. It feels good to get my "hands on" again.

Hopefully I get the chance to snap some good photos, but perhaps not- lots of trade secrets there, don't ya know?

... oh, and it's day shift work. Back to the Blog!!!!!!!

No Time for Blogging

I've been job searching my computer time away.

Abstraction

I am a big fan of Impressionism. I have always wished I could be an Impressionist with my camera, and once in a while I come close. This is a tree at night time, by the street light.

The Blogger at Work

"no typ. days" Thanks to Danny for the photo.

work, work, work...

There are no "typical" days, but this was a piece of one of them.

Sixo (maybe a little late) de Mayo

Well, some of you will remember that I went to day shift just over a year ago. When I left night shift, I threw a little "last supper" beach barbecue. Well, at about the 13 month mark, we did it again. And here's the proof:

Lovebugs. They were bad this year. The picture really doesn't do it justice, they were like swarming mosquitos- the onslaught lasted a good 2 hours and then they went away.

We were tempted to cancel because of them, but we persevered!

There was sanitation, fire starter, mustard, and most importantly: homebrew. Yep, it's strapple.

Among the attendees: this squirrel. They were not shy in the least. I may post more on these guys just because there were so many pictures taken of them.

Metal work

a little something (about the size of a quarter) I made when I was in business for myself in St. Louis. Part-time, anyway. Laser-cut from 16ga. stainless steel.

Work

Ian no longer works here, but he did once and here's proof:
Apparently, he voted. Pro-gun, I hope!

Super-Macro!

I don't use that setting too much, but it's fun on occasion.
Betcha can't guess what it is.

Be Cool, Stay in School!

Unless you like the idea of cleaning this up!
For what it's worth, in upper management, you might not even have to use it what with the executive washroom and all.
For any who may be wondering: I was the only person in the whole building at the time this photograph was taken, and therefore did not risk any privacy issues! I certainly wouldn't have wanted anyone walking in on me taking the picture, for fear that I'd have to explain myself!
For any who may be wondering where they can see more urinal photos:click here

I think maybe I have a bad shopping habit!

Get it??? 'Cause of all the shop pics! Oh, come on, it was a little bit funny, wasn't it? No? Oh, well.

An exercise in perspective.

Another try...

...out the window.

24 February 2006

'twas a dark and foggy night...

Taken upon exiting work, of course.

first attempt

I think it will take many tries, but I want to try to share with y'all the view out the window in my office. That sunset is a definite perk!

step right up...

New Digs

This'll be the artistic version (I like the reflection of the office) of the view from my new office's window.
